The Orangutan Project

The Orangutan Project.

The Orangutan Project began its exceptional work in 1998; TOP raises funds to promote the protection of Orangutans.

Founded by Mr Leif Cocks a renowned expert with over 30 years of experience in the conservation and support of Orangutans.

Leif’s years in the field have earned him respect within the conservation field. He has been a key player in developing conservation plans for orangutans and influencing positive change for orangutan protection and survival. This includes the first-ever successful reintroduction of the zoo-born orangutan. This respect has given The Orangutan Project world standing in conservation.

They also work to maintain the natural habitats, which includes Palm Oil trees from illegal logging and destruction of these habitats so vital to the survival of these beautiful animals which are located principally in various parts of Indonesia.

They also work alongside local organisations working in the field, such as the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS), the Orangutan Foundation International, founded by Dr Birute Galdikas and the Orangutan Foundation.

They also work on a variety of different conservation projects including both Tiger and Elephant conservation.

We have been following and supporting their great work for some time, and we encourage you to help them too.
